Martin Kadlecik won the first TCR Eastern Europe race in Most, while Bartosz Groszek had to retire after an awkward manoeuvre of an opponent. After an excellent drive in the second race, our drivers secured a double podium for the team.
For the third race weekend of TCR Eastern Europe we finally visited our home country, we raced in Most. For the starting grid of the first race, Martin Kadlecik and Bartosz Groszek claimed second and third place, both just four and six tenths of a second behind pole position.
Saturday's race was affected by bad weather when rain fell on the asphalt. However, both drivers managed the start well and were already in the lead after the first corner. Unfortunately for Bartosz, after a very awkward and unnecessary contact from another car, his left suspension broke, Bartosz got a puncture and had to retire from the race. However, Martin repeated his result from the Salzburgring and drove to victory by a large gap.
Martin started the second race from sixth and Bartosz from the last tenth place. Martin moved up to second after a great start, while Bartosz fought his way up to seventh place in the first lap and continued his pursuit. He almost got involved in a collision in the tricky first chicane, which ended the race for several cars and caused the safety car deployment. Despite a big delay, Bartosz managed to continue. After the restart, Martin held on to second place until the finish despite having to brake only with the front wheels for the last few laps due to a rear brake circuit failure. Bartosz worked his way through the field and managed a decisive overtake in the last lap to take a great third place.
The black and yellow colours of our team were also visible in the endurance race of the GT Cup Series championship. After a long time, the familiar face of Petr Čížek appeared in our team, taking turns with Radim behind the wheel of our Porsche. However, a technical fault after contact with a rival led to the sad decision of our crew to withdraw from the race. We did not add any more points in the GT Cup.
Both our drivers still hold second and third place in the TCR Eastern Europe championship. Martin finds himself only two points behind the leader Adam Kout. For the next race we will head to the Slovakia Ring on the fourth weekend of August, where we will be aiming to take the lead in the overall standings.
